Dyslexia Course for Primary Teachers and SNA'S – Level 1
Minds Eye Education runs a training course for Primary School Teachers based on the Davis Method approach. This course is offered to qualified primary level teachers who are registered or eligible for registration with the Teaching Council. The course may be particularly relevant to teachers moving to an SET role or new to that role. Additionally, second-level teachers responsible for teaching literacy to students with dyslexia are welcome to attend.
Key Learning Outcomes for Level 1 – Understanding Dyslexia and its Impact on Learning:
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of what dyslexia is and its impact on learning
- Explore effective methods for identifying dyslexia in students and assessment strategies
- Gain insights into best practices for fostering inclusion in the classroom
- Discover evidence-based resources, systematic learning approaches, and assistive technology to support dyslexic learners
- Understand the crucial connection between dyslexia, self-esteem, and mental health
A course certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of the course. Qualified teachers who have completed this course may apply for inclusion on the Minds Eye Education tutor lists, which are available to members.

Dyslexia and Literacy Assessment Course for Teachers. SNA'S and Tutors
Minds Eye Education is offering a new Dyslexia and Literacy Assessment Course for Teachers based on the Davis Method approach. The course has been designed to provide information and training for Primary and Second level teachers on the various screening tests for dyslexia (both at Primary and Secondary School) as well as the different literacy attainment tests used for RACE, DARE, and Irish exemption applications. This course is suitable for teachers in Primary and Secondary school, particularly Learning Support/Special Education teachers. The course covers:
- A brief introduction to dyslexia and literacy difficulties
- Test theory and psychometric terminology
- Dyslexia Screeners – Primary and Secondary level
- Administration and scoring of Literacy attainment tests (incl. WIAT and WRAT)
- Test analysis and interpretation
- Important issues for applications for RACE, DARE, and Irish exemption
Our Dyslexia and Literacy Assessment Course for Teachers takes place over 3 sessions.
